SPD4459 [Dessert 甜品篇] Pierre Hermé + 壓軸推介: 英國傳統糖果店Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe - by Jun

Previously, I introduced a dessert store in IFC called petite Amanda, and of course, petite Amanda is not the only one dessert store in IFC. Since IFC is located in the heart of Hong Kong - Central, and includes a luxury shopping mall, a lot of famous restaurants have rented a place or even just a corner to sell their products. Pierre Hermé is one of them.




Pierre Hermé is a international leading group created by Pierre Hermé and Charles Znaty in 1997, and has been expanding its network strongly since 2010. That's the reason why today we can go to HK's IFC to purchase its products.





Pierre Hermé is well-known for its macarons. Therefore, this time I am going to introduce its macarons.











Among the different sets of macarons, I chose Hong Kong Landmark!


Hong Kong Landmark
There are 7 pieces in a box of Hong Kong Landmark. Here are the 4 flavors I love the most.


Macaron Veloutés Framboise 紅桑子乳酪
The first one is Macaron Veloutés Framboise. It's raspberry flavor. Sour and sweet tasting with some raspberry flesh and yogurt in between. I bet raspberry-holic will love it very much.


Macaron Veloutés Citron Vert 青檸乳酪
Macaron Veloutés Citron Vert is lime flavor. It also tastes sweet and sour but this mixture of taste is different from raspberry's. I like yogurt and the flavor of lime and thus I love this macaron.


Infiniment Chocolat Porcelana (Pure Origin Venezuela Porcelana Dark Chocolate) 白瓷黑朱古力
I am a chocoholic and this Infiniment Chocolat Porcelana is exactly my cup of tea! Fortunately it's made with dark chocolate, it's not too sweet and remains dark chocolate's fragrance and richness. 


Ispahan (Rose, Litchi, Raspberry) 玫瑰荔枝紅莓
Well, finally come to my favorite pick! Although I like the dark chocolate one, this Ispahan is the most satisfying macaron since it surprised me. The fresh-tasting rose perfectly matches with the sweet and sour litchi and raspberry. This mixture of flavors successfully creates different level of tastes. Therefore, this should be termed as a must-try item!

因為今篇係最後1篇[Dessert 甜品篇], 我決定為大家送上壓軸推介: Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe!!!!!

呢間充滿英國風既糖果店係非常強大既外國勢力, 因為係英國已經擁有超過百年歷史, 上個月尾先攻入香港既擺花街, 同英國店一樣, 呢間位於擺花街既首間香港分店亦沿用維多利亞式設計, 係咪好似哈利波特電影既場景咁呢? 仲有超過1000款糖果, 連懷舊既rhubarb, custards, 同handmade既Toffees, Fudges都有!! 








今次開業, 連政府都出press release介紹, 真係好巴閉架!



未去過英國或者去完返黎好掛住果到D糖果既話, 呢間店一定要去喇!

P.S. FB有好多糖既相, 慎入! 因為睇完會好心動!! :D

SPD4459 [Dessert 甜品篇] petite Amanda - by Jun

Hey, dessert time again!! Do you wanna have some "simple, and not too sweet, like authentic French pastries"?! (YES!!!) 

Alright, then let me introduce a dessert store called petite Amanda.


petite Amanda is established by Amanda S, a well-known model of French-Taiwanese. Amanda’s passion for pastries began in 2005 when she started her training at the renowned school of culinary arts, Le Cordon Bleu in Paris where she got her first certificate.


Amanda then went on to gain further accreditations including a diploma in pastry. She gained on-the-job experience over the past six years by serving as an apprentice at Caprice in Hong Kong's Four Season Hotel, Ladurée in Paris and Jacques Genin, a small Parisian chocolatier.


And so, with all the practical skills on hand, Amanda decided to follow her childhood dream and opened petite Amanda. Her dream shop took a year of hard work to put together and today she is proud to share with you her passion for pastries at petite Amanda.

Looks delicious and attractive, right? Now, I am going to introduce three types of desserts which gave me a delightful dessert experience!



Mille Feuille
The Mille Feuille is really good! It is made with Puff Pastry & Light Pastry Cream. I would like to recommend you to eat this first since it is light but surprisingly not as light as those tasteless desserts. Fortunately, it is not too sweet so I was not guilty after eating these 3 layers.. Haha!!


Plasir Sucre
After having a light dessert, maybe you can move on to a heavier one. I highly recommend this Plasir Sucre, which is Amanda's favourite pick. It is a heavier dessert since it is made with crunchy wafer-thin chocolate and hazelnut concoction. Not only did it give me a richer flavor, each layer also gave me different texture and melted in my mouth, what an irresistible and pleasant taste! 

One more little thing I would like to share with you guys --- the package design.




The package for take-away desserts looks like a pyramid. I really appreciate this design since it makes me think of the Egyptian Pyramid. Is there any mystery inside the pyramid? What will I see when I open the pyramid? Perhaps.. the mysteriously delicious desserts are already a kind of mystery... 



It's not surprising to see petite Amanda's desserts on magazines or newspapers.

SPD4459 [Nightlight 夜蒲篇]----Bread Street Kitchen & Bar By Frankco

Located in the heart of Lan Kwai Fong, Bread Street Kitchen & Bar introduces a relaxed drinking and dining experience. With a design styled on the London edition - a lively warehouse style combining vintage and modern decor, Bread Street Kitchen is open from lunch for all-day dining and drinking.

The restaurant serves a British European menu featuring dishes from its London counterpart using specially imported British artisanal products with local influences supplied from the very best ingredients from Australasia; whilst the bar combines well known classics with some more innovative and fun cocktails, as well as a large collection of world wines.


As soon as you enter Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, there’s a very warm and welcoming vibe. I liked the comfy looking sofa seating and the open layout of the restaurant, with the ‘interactive’ bar area, communal table and the bustling brassiere.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Bread Street Kitchen & Bar. The atmosphere is casual yet sophisticated, just what everyone seems to be looking for at the moment, and it would be the perfect place for dinner with friends
